Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser Includes Treasures of Sierra Leone

SAN FRANCISCO, C.A., November 7, 2009 -- This year SLVP's annual silent auction included several items from Maureen McNamara’s two trips to Sierra Leone.  The Fula tribe would take the highest honor, as their cuff bracelets made of cow horn went like hot cakes.  The President of SLVP, J. Albert Kamara was in attendance and had to be forcibly stopped from giving answers to the Sierra Leone Trivia!  SLVP continues to fight an uphill battle when it comes to fundraising during a recession, but our generous donor base never ceases to warm our hearts with their generosity.  At the event we held a raffle, played Sierra Leone trivia and with the plethora of items up for auction, the total amount raised was $1,325.  With a generous donation of West African catering from Bissap Baobab, we kept the overhead cost at zero and all the money raised will go to finish the Fadugu Primary School and fund our next project.  Thank you again to our generous donors.
